National Bestseller Why I March Raises Nearly $50,000 for Nonprofits Associated with the Women’s March
New York, NY – February 21, 2018 – WHY I MARCH: Images from The Women’s March Around the World, published one year ago on February 21, 2017, was the first photographic tribute to the one of the largest peaceful demonstration in history. The book is a global tour of the women’s marches that took place last January and features colorful, inspiring photographs from all over the world. The book went on to become an instant New York Times bestseller, as well as a Washington Post, San Francisco Chronicle, and IndieBound bestseller, selling more than 100,000 copies.
At the time of publication, ABRAMS announced that all royalties from the sale of the book would go to three nonprofits associated with the Women’s March on Washington: The Council on American–Islamic Relations (CAIR), the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health (NLIRH), and the Transgender Law Center.
Nearly a year after the book’s publication, ABRAMS is proud to announce that the book has garnered nearly $50,000 in royalties, all of which will be evenly divided among and donated to the nonprofits. Why I March will continue to help raise awareness and promote activism for generations to come.
“The strength, passion, and bravery that our communities brought to the Women’s March was deeply historic, and I am grateful that Why I March serves as a tribute to our power and resilience. The march was not the beginning, nor the end of our fight for freedom and collective liberation, but it sparked a fire in us that will effectively and triumphantly transform the political landscape for all of us. We are part of a powerful, intersectional, and global movement for social justice and human rights. We will continue to move forward because we can, and we will.”
—Jessica González-Rojas, Executive Director at the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health
