FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New York, New York – February 10, 2015 – ABRAMS is proud to announce its exclusive partnership with The Metropolitan Museum of Art in becoming the publisher of the institution’s 2016 calendar program. Drawing upon the museum’s stunning and vast permanent collection, this partnership will expand and invigorate the current calendar catalog and introduce the museum’s line of products to a trade market, while maintaining emphasis on superlative aesthetics and quality.

The Met’s esteemed calendar program is the perfect addition to ABRAMS’ artful and beautifully produced line of calendars,” says Michael Jacobs, president and CEO of ABRAMS. “The Museum is the world-renowned curator of fine art, and ABRAMS’ design and creative resources along with our sales and distribution reach are a perfect marriage. We aim to elevate The Met’s calendar brand to its full potential.” Jo Prosser, the museum’s vice president and general manager of merchandising and retail, adds, “The Met is thrilled to be partnering with ABRAMS and to be able to bring our much-loved calendar program to new audiences. ABRAMS’ reputation in the field of art and photography, combined with the quality of their design and production, makes them the ideal partner with whom to share The Met’s publishing tradition of some 50 years.”

ABRAMS, the distinguished publisher of high quality art and illustrated books, will lend its design expertise, editorial talent, production capability, and proprietary distribution channels to the project. A well-known publisher of calendars, ABRAMS has a current product line that already features approximately 25 wall, engagement, and Advent calendars by visual artists including many represented in the Met’s collection, such as Andy Warhol, Dale Chihuly, and William Wegman, as well as a broad range of prestigious international brands.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is the world’s most encyclopedic art museum. It was founded in 1870 and its permanent collection comprises more than two million works of art spanning 5,000 years of world culture, from prehistory to the present. The collections come from every part of the globe, in all artistic media, and at the highest levels of creative excellence. Under the auspices of the ABRAMS publishing program, the new partnership will publish 17 titles for 2016–consisting of 10 wall calendars, 2 editions of 3 engagement calendars, and a 365 days desk calendar, building upon and updating the classics of The Met’s 50-year calendar program.
