Alastair Reid

Alastair Reid was a poet, translator, and essayist. He is remembered for his original poetry and children's books (Ounce Dice Trice, Supposing), and for his translations of Jorge Luis Borges, Pablo Neruda, and other Spanish-language writers. He also was a staff writer at the New Yorker for 40 years, penning personal essays, travelogues, reviews, and reported articles. Born in Scotland in 1926, he lived in New York, Spain, and England before his death at 88 in 2014.
