For the MITTS under HAND, Round 6 should read as follows:
RND 6: K11 and transfer to st holder, CO 5 sts using Backward Loop CO (see Special Techniques, page 141), k3, work to end—32 sts.

After the HAND instructions, continue with the following instructions before FINISHING to complete the thumb:
THUMB
Transfer sts from st holder to 2 dpns. Rejoin yarn and with a third dpn, pick up and knit 5 sts from sts CO over gap, knit to end–16 sts. Join for working in the rnd; pm for beginning of rnd. Knit 3 rnds.
NEXT RND: Change to 1×1 Rib; work even for 3 rnds. BO all sts in pattern.

For the HAT, Round 1 should read as follows:
RND 1: *K1, s2kp2, k1, p3; repeat from * to end—66 sts remain.
